My Background
DARAN SCHANER
I would like to share an overview of my professional background and current ventures.
Raised in rural Minnesota and educated in Southern California, I graduated from UCLA with a major in Business focused on product branding and a minor in Art History. I subsequently pursued graduate courses in fine art technique and marketing. Through hard work and determination, my career progressed to an executive position within the luxury goods industry.
As a fine artist, I am a Yale University Gallery member and recently entered into a licensing agreement with Disney for the use of my artwork in television and movie productions. Previously, from 2005 to 2012, I launched an international fashion line, MISS FRITZ, which was showcased in European and Japanese fashion magazines and highlighted in People magazine in the USA. My newest fashion venture is BOTTOMS UP YOGA PANTS, a line of UVA sports swimwear, alongside BOTTOMS UP BIKINIS.
In terms of philanthropy, I support the Naples Comprehensive Hospital in Naples, Florida, through the Glenn C. & Daran Schaner Trust.
My family and I currently reside on Marco Island, Florida.
My Medium & Inspiration
My style is Fauvism a form of Impressionism. At the turn of the 20th century. The camera was becoming a more affordable way to accurately capture an image. Fauvism came out of this new freedom. Artists were free to create their interpretation. Vibrant colors, abstract portraits and bold lines. Picasso, Matisse and other Artisans welcomed this new form of expression. I paint with acrylic on canvas. My paintings reflect my love for the Gulf of America. The whimsy of Key West. Recently, I completed "Urban Tropics" taking bright colors of the coast in a more abstract urban direction. Marco Island is always inspiring with its breathtaking beauty.
